Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower Included the Most Fashionable Activity
By all accounts, the Duchess of Sussex’s baby shower was quite glamorous. First, there was the setting: a 10,000-square-foot penthouse at The Mark hotel. Then, the guest list: Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and Gayle King, to name a few. And even the activities: According to new details, the group took part in a flower arranging class.
“I hope she won’t mind me sharing this because I’ve never seen anything like this at a baby shower,” King said on CBS This Morning. “They brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers. We all each made an individual vase.”
The arrangements were donated to Repeat Roses, an organization that takes flowers from events and turns them into bouquets for those in hospices, treatment centers, and homeless shelters.
“I thought that was a very sweet thing. I mean, it just speaks to who [Meghan] is. She’s very kind. She’s very generous, and a really, really sweet person,” said King.
King also revealed that Markle didn’t unwrap any presents at the party—a common baby shower activity. “She didn’t open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she goes—when she and Harry are back together.”
It’s been a high-profile couple of days for the Duchess. In addition to her much-photographed trip to New York, Beyoncé and Jay-Z filmed their BRIT Awards acceptance speech in front of an oil portrait of Markle. “In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy,” Beyoncé wrote on Instagram.
Later this week, Markle and Prince Harry are off to Morocco for a royal tour. It’s likely the last major trip for the Duchess, whose expected due date is in late April.
