Meghan Markle Is Apparently Struggling With the Spotlight, Which Honestly Makes a Lottt of Sense
Meghan Markle, the people’s duchess, is struggling with living in the spotlight, according to a royal insider.
Because of this, Meghan and Prince Harry have made decisions recently that protect their privacy as well as the privacy of baby Archie.
Admit it: If you’re reading this, there’s at least a slight chance you’re maybe a *little* obsessed with the royals...and that’s totally okay! This is a safe space. But just as you follow the every move of Kate, William, Harry, and Meghan, so do millions of other people! For regular people like us, that makes us feel less alone, but for the royals, it can be an extremely polarizing feeling—especially if you’re Meghan Markle, an American-born, half-black actress turned British royalty.
Even though Meghan has experienced being in the limelight before (she was an actress on Suits, lest we forget!), a source has now told People that Meghan believes the fame that comes with being a royal is entirely different. “Meghan has struggled with the intensity of the spotlight,” a source close to the royal household said. “Although she is a former actress, this is on a different level. It is an isolated experience.”
This makes total sense, considering that every other day, there’s a new article about something Meghan has done wrong—holding her baby “weird,” being “difficult” with royal staffers, wearing clothes she actually likes—you name it. It’s super exhausting to read, isn’t it? Imagine how exhausting it must be to actually live through! I might not know Meghan personally, but I am tired for her.
As a result, Meghan has taken steps to make her life as a mother feel more private. Instead of making a public event out of Archie’s christening, she and Harry opted for a private christening at the queen’s chapel and did not share the names of Archie’s godparents—two power moves.

Meghan isn’t the only one who feels like all the attention can be overbearing at times though. Kate has also said before that motherhood as a royal can feel “lonely at times, and you do feel quite isolated. But so many other mothers are going through exactly what you are going through.”
It’s nice to know that Meghan can always rely on Kate!
