Meghan Markle is starting married life with a trip aboard the Queen's private train, as the pair attend their first engagement together since the royal wedding.

And according to the Express, the Duchess of Sussex is the first to be invited on the royal train, before Prince William, Prince Harry, or even Kate Middleton have had the opportunity to ride it.

It's incredibly significant that Meghan is the "the first of the younger generation of royals to score a ride on the royal train for an official outing with Queen Elizabeth" (via People), and proves that Queen Elizabeth already places the utmost trust in Prince Harry's wife. Basically, the Queen's outing with the Duchess of Sussex shows that the former actress has already been welcomed into the royal family with open arms.

Meghan's first royal trip without her husband Prince Harry, involves several engagements alongside the Queen-opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Cheshire, opening the Storyhouse Theater in Chester, and attending a lunch at the Chester Town Hall. The fact that Meghan is attending these events without Prince Harry, and so soon after the royal wedding, is proof that Queen Elizabeth regards the new royal as a capable member of the family, with whom she is happy to make official visits.

According to People, the royal train was built in 1842 for Queen Victoria. Intended as a home away from home for the royal family, it is now regularly used by Prince Charles, while other members of the royal family, including Prince Philip and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also have access to the nine-carriage vehicle.
