Meghan Markle Is Already Back at Work Just Days After Welcoming Baby Archie

Just as she promised, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has returned to work not long after giving birth to her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6. On May 9, Meghan appeared in a pre-recorded message for the CAMFED Gala, which took place in New York City. Granted, this isn’t necessarily an official appearance that demands Meghan go out and about in order to do her work, but we certainly thought she’d take a little more time with Archie and husband Prince Harry before easing back into work mode (even if it’s just with a short video message).

Meghan recorded a special message for CAMFED’s “Education Is Everything” Gala held in NYC on Thursday evening. CAMFED (short for “The Campaign for Female Education”) is an organization that is close to Meghan’s, the current VP of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, heart. CAMFED’s mission is to “break the cycle of poverty & inequality in rural Africa by educating girls and investing in economic & leadership opportunities for young women,” a mission and issue that is also very important to Meghan. So, even though she couldn’t be there in person, Meghan showed up through a special message for all of the gala’s attendees.

“As I said on International Women’s Day, a girl who is educated becomes a woman who is influential,” Meghan shared with the gala attendees. “The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust wants to champion, fund and connect young leaders.”

Meghan’s work to affect social change, especially when it comes to lifting up women who need assistance and supported visibility the most, has always been a key part of who she is. In the past, she has written about the importance of all women getting access to menstruation products so that aspects of their lives, like going to school or work, aren’t affected. She has also done valuable work with SmartWorks charity, which seeks to help and train unemployed or vulnerable women in the hopes of finding them stable work. Meghan’s work has always been geared toward women; we’re glad she found time to once again come through to give support to a foundation that is actively focused on female empowerment through education.

That said, can we let Meghan take a little break? This new mom probably needs some sleep!
