Just like she did with Kate Middleton and Prince William, Queen Elizabeth II has just announced the new royal titles of Prince Harry and his wife-to-be Meghan Markle. They will, as many outlets predicted, be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their Scottish titles will be the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton. Their Northern Irish titles are the Baron and Baroness of Kilkeel; that is a new title, by the way, that has reportedly never been granted.

"The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel," the Palace wrote in its statement. "Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex."

Markle, of course, does not literally become Princess Meghan Markle today, though technically she will take on the title of her husband, HRH Princess Henry of Wales. Markle, like Kate Middleton, will go by her Duchess name.

Middleton and William were also given their royal titles on the day of their marriage. The Queen declared them then and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Earl and Countess of Strathearn.
