Megan Thee Stallion's Red Hair and Blunt Bangs Have Major Main Character Energy

When it comes to switching up her hair color, Megan Thee Stallion knows a thing or two. Of all the shades she has tried—blonde, black, pink, blue, green, and more—one color she keeps on coming back to is red. Whether it's pure cherry red or a more subdued cowboy copper, different variations of the color have long been her go-to. However, of the numerous versions she has rocked, her most recent might be her coolest.

On January 22, the rap superstar posted an Instagram carousel showing off bits and pieces of her recent life. What was included? High glamour photos of her sitting in a hair and makeup chair, more shots of her recent Mean Girls Blonde look, and a group photo of her with Cara Delevigne and Reneé Rapp. What else was in the mix? A freshly debuted "pop star red" haircolor that looks like it could top the charts.

Mixed in between the rest of her photo dump were two pictures showing off her new crimson color. Styled in a Pamela Anderson updo of sorts, most of her long hair was tied into a stylishly messy bun on the crown of her head. She left a few of the strands out, dangling by her ears and framing her face. Finishing off the look were blunt bangs grazing her eyelashes, only adding to the structure of the look—making for the perfect balance of messy on top and structured on bottom.

Of course, the hairdo came with the pop star red color—and no, we did not just make up that name. Worn by Dua Lipa, Olivia O'Brien, Megan Fox, and more at some point over the latter half of 2023, pop star red is "not your average red," Jacob Schwartz, celebrity colorist and Olaplex ambassador, previously told us. "If you're a singer, musician, actress, you're a little edgy. So is this red."

"This shade is a bit more dramatic and less natural than what we've seen lately trending in reds, which has been a very copper or golden story," Shvonne Perkins, a master colorist at Madison Reed, told us of the shade. Unlike the aforementioned cowboy copper and even some takes on cherry cola hair, "It's a bolder take on red that can feel more exciting and like more of a statement than the soft approach of natural, warm reds from recent trends."
