It’s one thing to be an uber-talented artist, create chart-topping anthems and grow a truly iconic social media presence. It’s another to have all that and use your platform to promote the importance of mental health.

But that’s just real hot-girl sh*t. Megan Thee Stallion recently launched Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too, an online hub jam-packed with therapy platforms, phone hotline databases and other potentially life-saving resources. Her newest launch will help strip taboo from topics dealing with mental health. This is especially important for the minority groups that MTS is serving, Black women and LGBTQIA+ folks in particular.

According to a 2015 study, Black women used mental health services at a rate of 10.3 percent, less than half the amount that white women do, whose usage hovered at 21.5 percent. Even more troubling, a 2021 article from the American Psychological Association reports that “Black teenage girls outpace both White and Hispanic teenage girls in suicide attempts, with 15.2% of Black 14-18-year-old girls reporting a suicide attempt in the previous 12 months compared with 9.4% of white teenage girls and 11.9% of Hispanic teenage girls.”

Megan has been open about her own therapy journey, so launching the Bad Bitches website is a natural next step in her drive to destigmatize mental health concerns. Talking with Taraji P. Henson in a 2021 interview, Megan explained that the loss of her parents pushed her to seek professional help.

“I'm like 'Oh, my gosh, who do I talk to? What do I do?'” she said. “And I just started learning that it's okay to ask for help. And it's okay to want to go get therapy.”

While there are plenty of valuable resources on Megan’s site, there’s also the opportunity to have a little fun and decompress. A link at the bottom of the Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too website sends you to the Traumazine page (Traumatize is the name of her second album), which is pretty therapeutic in its own right. First, it offers a definition for the word:

From there, it poses a simple question – how do you cope? There are three options to choose from: retail therapy, which navigates to her online store; binge watch, which pulls up some of her music videos; and writing. Choose writing, and a virtual notebook will come up for you to write something that’s on your mind or something that’s bothering you.

From there, it gives you three options. Crumple it up, fold it into a paper airplane or burn it. Every option is satisfying in its own right.

Megan repeatedly reminds us of her commitment to using her platform for good in both big ways and small. There’s nothing hotter than that.
