Megan Rapinoe's Pink Hair Is Back and Better Than Ever

Frustrating as it is, we've all had to go without salons and hairstylists while isolating for the past few months. That's meant no drastic haircuts and no professional hair coloring — even for world-famous athletes like soccer player Megan Rapinoe, who's known to play around with vivid and pastel hues. In some states, however, salons are reopening (with new health and safety measures, of course), and celebrities are already starting to reveal their long-awaited cuts, highlights, and color changes.

That includes Rapinoe, who just had her hair dyed for the first time in ages. The athlete revealed her new and improved pink hair to Instagram on July 10, writing, "It's been so long I just HAD to grid this pic 👩🏻‍🎤ACTUALLY, it has been nearly a year to the day since my last full bleach and tone + PINK. Rapinkoe is back and ready to roll!!!"

Hairstylist Riawna Capri is entirely to thank for the look, which she says took a whopping six hours to complete from start to finish. After lightening and toning Rapinoe's hair, Capri used a special mix of hair dyes that she's deemed the soccer player's signature. "I applied RaPINKoe, which consists of Pulp Riot Hair [shades] Blush, Lilac, and Sea Glass Mint Green," she explains. "[The Sea Glass Mint Green] cancels out just enough of that flaming color to give it a soft, subdued hue."

(PulpRiot hair dyes are professional grade, by the way, which means you need a cosmetology license to obtain them.)

And because Rapinoe's hair hadn't been lightened in a while, Capri took extra care to hydrate and repair the hair as much as possible. "Anytime I bleach hair, I seal the deal and pack the vitamins back in with my go-to Crystal Cashmere Cocktail," Capri says. "It's a simple mix of In Common’s Crystal Serum, Cashmere Fusion, and Velvet Cloud for luster, silk, shine, and strength."

Rapinoe, by the way, urges everyone to be careful while seeking out salon treatments as states continue to reopen. "I've been very cautious about stepping out of Quarantine, I’m still not really out tbh, but the salon was fr safe AF," she writes on Instagram. "Stay safe, wear a mask, socially distance, and let's all get through this TOGETHER."
