As summer gets closer and closer, it's time Mermaidcore makes a return. The trend, defined by soft blues and seafoam greens, was everywhere last summer and has since faded into the trend abyss. However, Megan Fox is making the case for a Mermaidcore comeback in a look that even Ariel from The Little Mermaid would be jealous of.

The Look

Fox is a hair chameleon—one minute her hair is red, the next it’s pink. So it was only natural that the 37-year-old would switch up her style for festival season. On April 13, Fox premiered mermaid-esque long blue waves on her Instagram with the similarly blue caption, “summertime sadness.” Swipe left on the post and you’ll find Fox sporting her blue hair underneath a cowboy hat in denim cut-offs. Her look was equal parts cowboy and mermaid-influenced, a Coachella look to a T.

While just earlier this month Fox was sporting a powder blue bob, her new blue locks land right at the waist and feature delicate swooping bangs that lightly frame her face. With her brown roots still visible, the color blends from an icy blue to a bright turquoise shade.

How To Get The Look

Heading out to weekend two? We’ve got the inside scoop to get Fox’s look at home. Her hair was coiffed by celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimmons (who also glams stars like Khloe Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and more) who used Bellami’s Silk seam clip-in extensions in a custom blue color to get her ethereal mermaid locks. To achieve her natural beachy waves, Fitzsimmons used his own Sexe Texture Spray and Strong Hold Hairspray to hold her loose curls all day (both are on sale at Ulta for $11 at the moment).

As for makeup, Fox stuck to her usual sultry glam with a glowy lip and cat-eye courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Jenna Kristina. Kristina used Dynessa Myrick’s Yummy Skin Glow Serum ($38) and Elemis’s Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser ($58) to get Fox’s glowing-from-within complexion. For her eye look, she used Tarte’s Maneater After Dark Eyeshadow Palette ($54) to achieve her taupe smokey eye and Big Ego Mascara ($27) for her wispy lashes. To tie the base together, Kristina added a touch of pink blush from Lunar Beauty’s Moon Prism Palette ($35) and set the face with Kosas Cloud Setting Powder ($35). Last was a swipe of Buxom Plump Shot Lip Serum ($29).

If Mermaidcore makes a comeback, look no further than Fox’s influence. What color hair do you think she’ll have next? Regardless, her blue waves are going right to our festival mood board.
