Tell me why Hollywood’s failed at making a rom-com as timeless and perfect as When Harry Met Sally or You’ve Got Mail—despite having 33 and 25 years (respectively) to do so. The utter perfection of those movies is (largely) thanks to Meg Ryan. So color me absolutely thrilled to see her make a rare appearance in a Michael Kors gown at her first Met Gala in TWENTY TWO years. More good news—InStyle has the exclusive breakdown of the products she used for her smooth, plump complexion and fluttery lashes.

Every single makeup product Ryan wore last night was from Iris and Romeo. The brand has nothing but hits, so it’s hard to hone in on a single product—but I’ll focus on two; the new Lash Up Peptide Thickening Mascara that debuted on Ryan last night, and the Best Skin Days tinted moisturizer-serum-SPF.

Iris and Romeo is an under-the-radar brand that’s quietly gaining traction with editors and celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker. It mostly makes makeup products that are equal parts skincare. Like all of its other products, its first mascara isn’t simply that. It’s also a peptide-formulated lash lengthener. Makeup artist Jo Strettell said she used it to “lengthen, lift, and define [Ryan’s] lashes.” She added that it’s great for “all-night wear with no smudges.”

I’ve been using it for a month and I understand why Ryan wore it on a day with 85 percent humidity; it does not budge and I noticed a difference in the amount and length of my lashes within three weeks. The brush is also shaped like a wide “C” so I am able to reach my entire lash line in one movement without having to contort my hands to get the right angle.

For her complexion, Strettell used Best Skin Days, which is an incredible feat of science and cosmetic ingenuity. It’s a hit with young and mature shoppers alike so it follows that 62-year-old Ryan would wear it. Strettell said she used it on Ryan because it’s “lightweight, evens out skin tones, delivers buildable coverage, and melts into the skin.”

The light/medium coverage tinted moisturizer is formulated with a moisturizing hyaluronic acid derivative, brightening vitamin C, and antioxidant rich and plumpness boosting rose oil. It comes in 12 shades and has thousands of cumulative five-star ratings across retailers. A reviewer in their 50s said Iris and Romeo’s Best Skin Days “plumps” their skin in addition to “filling out [their] fine lines and wrinkles with even, fresh skin.”
