Meet the Mustachioed Heroes of Movember

Meet the Mo Bros. They’re growing the craziest mustaches they can muster for the month of November, driving awareness and donations to illnesses facing men today.

A little background: Movember began in Australia in November 2003, when a group of men grew mustaches to promote cancer awareness. The cause landed on American soil in 2007 and immediately gathered steam: There are now campaigns in 21 countries, and the organization has supported over 800 men’s health programs to date.

Participants, called “Mo Bros,” shave their faces clean on November 1st and grow the bushiest mustaches possible for the next 30 days. They draw attention to testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and mental health, as well as how to screen for symptoms, and set up a donation page, called “MoSpace,” where friends and fans can make donations to the three causes. Funds raised in 2013 topped out at nearly $23 million, the result of over 219,000 Mo Bros and their supporters.
