Meet the North Jersey adoptable pets of the week for May 17: Baxter and Frappe

Meet NorthJersey.com's adoptable pets of the week for May 17!

Each week, NorthJersey.com would like to highlight adoptable animals from local shelters and rescues.

If you foster, work at, or volunteer with a North Jersey animal shelter or rescue and know of some animals who are in need of a loving fur-ever home please send a photo, description, and adoption information to amwallace@gannett.com to have your adoptable pets featured in the next edition.

This week we are featuring Baxter and Frappe from Treasure Fur-Ever Animal Rescue, a foster-based non-profit animal rescue located in North Jersey.

Baxter is a 5-year-old Shih Tzu mix who can be described as loyal, playful, protective, funny and he loves his toys! He is blind in one eye.

Baxter is cute as can be, but he is a feisty guy and, while he loves the people he trusts, he does not accept strangers without an effort on their part. Therefore, he is looking for an adult only home with people who are willing to give him the time he needs and understand his loyalty to them. He is house trained and will allow handling after you gain his trust. By that point you will be his everything!

If you are interested in Baxter, you can fill out an application form at the Treasure Fur-Ever website or by going to form.jotform.com.

Frappe

Frappe is an adult female American Staffordshire terrier mix. She can be described as friendly, affectionate, and playful and she loves kisses! Her foster mom describes her as "the perfect balance of activeness and cuddles."

Coming in at over 40 pounds, Frappe has plenty of love to give and a few pounds to gain. She has had a rough past, likely used for breeding, but her spirit remains unbroken, and she is looking for a family who will shower her with the love that she deserves.

She loves chasing tennis balls and keeping an eye out for birds and squirrels, but her foster mom has not even heard her bark. Whenever she is not playing or chasing a ball she will smother you in love. Frappe is always ready to snuggle up on the couch.

She is potty and crate trained and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. Overall, she is ready for a loving family and to be your new best friend!

Frappe has a heart murmur and is on medication for it. She is not a good candidate to get spayed due to her medical condition.
