Alex Morgan scores goals on and off the pitch. The professional soccer player made history in 2023 becoming the highest scoring mom in U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) history and has fought for gender equality in the sport.

"As professional athletes, we have a responsibility to all the little girls around the world who look up to us," Morgan told Parade in 2019. "We want those coming up after us to understand how important it is to come together and use your voice and influences for the greater good. We want to change the narrative of women in sports and have an impact on history."

Morgan, who was named one of the captains of the U.S. Women’s national team ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, has shared that her greatest strength is feeling confident enough to know that she can always bet on herself. Speaking to Parade in the past, she said, "When I set my mind to something, I never stop working until I accomplish it and feel like I’ve reached my full potential."

Does Alex Morgan have children?

Yes! Morgan became a mother in 2020. The USWNT player and her husband welcomed their first child, Charlie Elena Carrasco, in May 2020. Announcing her daughter's birth on Instagram, Morgan wrote: "She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby."

Morgan admitted in an episode of Ready for Anything that it was "really difficult" returning to soccer after the birth of her daughter. She confessed, "Professional soccer aside, it was really hard being a first-time mom. I had to hear time and time again that I was going to be the same player when I came back from pregnancy. Giving birth and starting a family didn't mean ending a career. It was the fear of the unknown, but everything I do now is for her."

In February 2023, Morgan became the highest scoring mom in USWNT history with 14 goals. The ninth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup marked the soccer player's first World Cup as a mother. Ahead of the 2023 competition, she said (via AP), "This is my first World Cup as a mom, so I just want to also just represent mom athletes and the accomplishments and strides we’ve been able to make in women’s soccer. I think it is amazing. I’m really excited for this."

Morgan has spoken about needing to break the "stigma of women pursuing motherhood while they are playing." Speaking to FOX Sports' Martin Rogers, she noted: "Back in the day, it used to be you're either a soccer player or you're going to be a mom. Usually you'd end your career, and then you pursue motherhood. I think now we need to normalize that idea that should a woman want to pursue that, that is her choice, and the club that they play for, the federation that they play for, will be fully, 100-percent backing them."
