Methodology

We collaborated with more than 180 food and travel journalists across the globe and received votes for their favorite culinary destinations, including restaurants and bars, cities, hotels, airports, airlines, and cruises. We then entrusted those results to an expert panel of judges to rank each category’s winners. In many categories, we’ve included a Plus One, hand-selected by our experts, to shout out more culinary destinations we don’t want our readers to miss. Brandon Berkson: The author and travel journalist with a long background in the hospitality industry is the CEO of Hotels Above Par.

Anya von Bremzen: Cookbook author and James Beard Award–winning food and travel writer who spends her time between Istanbul and NYC.

Katie Chang: Food and travel writer contributing to Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, Esquire, Vogue, and more.

Dan Q. Dao: Saigon-based culture and travel writer contributing to Food & Wine, The New York Times, and Texas Monthly.
