Meet The Freeride World Tour's Rookie Of The Year

Ben Richards had one heck of a run during his first go at the Freeride World Tour this winter, ultimately earning himself the coveted title of Rookie of the Year.

Here's a quick look at Richards' no-holds-barred skiing.

Richards kept it fast and fluid all season but really turned it on during the Fieberbrunn Pro, lacing a high-speed, pure freeride line. His skiing at Fieberbrunn netted a first-place finish, which, with the rest of his solid results, was enough to rank third overall by the end of the 2024 season.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that, after watching Richards' Fieberbrunn run, he's primarily big mountain disciple, focusing on technicality and speed over large tricks.

But that side of his skiing, as revealed by his appearance at the Kings and Queens of Corbet's, isn't the entire story. During the legendary Jackson Hole Mountain Resort competition, Richards launched an enormous double backflip.

That's all to say that Richards has a promising career ahead of him. Stay tuned for his antics next winter on the 2025 Freeride World Tour.
