Meet Echo Quan, Ke Huy Quan's Wife

When Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes, he said, "And last but not least, I want to thank the most important person in my life. The one person that never stopped believing in me, my wife, Echo, I love you with all my heart. Thank you so much. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

Who is Echo Quan? Here's everything you need to know.

Her full name is Corinna, but she goes by Echo.

She met Ke Huy Quan on the set of 2046 in Hong Kong. Echo previously worked for Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-Wai, and Ke Huy was working for stunt choreographer Corey Yeun. On 2046, Ke worked as an assistant director.

According to a profile in the Guardian of Ke, "Quan went on to work with action choreographer Corey Yuen on films such as X-Men (the actor is trained in martial arts) and as assistant director on 2046, a lavish romance by Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai. Wong even played cupid for Quan and his wife. The couple, who live in Los Angeles, have been together for 22 years after Wong first suggested they should date."

She was involved in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

"Echo Quan (On Set Translator) was the secret soul of our film set. So many people have told us how much it meant to them to hear the family speaking in multiple languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, Chinglish, and English), and we couldn’t have pulled it off without her," directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, a.k.a. the Daniels, tweeted.

They added, "Echo used to work for Wong Kar Wai when she was in Hong Kong. But when she moved to LA she didn't find any work in our industry (for several years!) This is her first job in the industry since she has moved here. She teared up when we hired her. But we’re the lucky ones!"

In another tweet, the Daniels wrote, "Inspired by the real life Kwan family we came up w regional backstories for the characters. Grandpa speaks Cantonese. Mom and dad speak mandarin to each other. Daughter is mostly English. HUGE Thanks to Echo Quan for helping us translate and keep it all straight on set."

At the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Ke Huy Quan, too, mentioned his wife's translation work, calling out the film's crew, including "the most beautiful translator and Chinese dialogue coach in the world, who I get to go home with every night, my wife, Echo, I love you."
