Mechanics Name the Best Car Color, and Their Answers Were Very Different

When picking out a car, color might not be thought of in the same vein as reliability or specs. Still, it can affect how we perceive our own vehicles, as well as how other drivers may see us.

Mechanics see cars in every color of the rainbow, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they have their preferences. The workers at Accurate Automotive body shop in Northglenn, CO took to TikTok to share some of their favorite car colors and why they resonate with them.

"I like something unique. Give me something different," one employee said. "There's this one car that drives in my neighborhood that's got a wrap and it's black and blue and has textiles over it. I like that. I think people can be a little bit more creative with vehicles."

Blue and black seems to be a go-to color for many of the mechanics. "I like darker colors—blues, even a purple, maybe a dark red," one person said. Another answered they like blue cars, while another joined the chorus of black car lovers. One mechanic with a black car preference quipped his favorite car color is "definitely not red."

Keeping in line with the dark theme, one mechanic has a longtime love for his favorite car color. "I like charcoal gray. I've liked it since I was a kid," he said. "I think that one's really nice."

On the lighter end of the spectrum, one mechanic said his favorite car color is Aspen white. And it's not just limited to flat colors. "I like the chameleon pearl. I like that color," another employee said. "I see it on a lot of cars when I'm cruising. The way the sun hits it and reflects all the rainbow colors off that thing looks sick."

Remember: if painting your car is too much of a commitment for you, you can always opt for a wrap.
