MCSD May Golden Apple Award: Brianna Dunn

MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — Early education plays a crucial role in a child’s development, laying the foundation for future academic success and social skills. It fosters creativity, curiosity and a love for learning, setting kids on a path of lifelong growth.

“It’s so much more than just dropping your kids off for a fun day, we’re teaching them really important skills and an educational base that they’re going to need for kindergarten and upper grades.”

Brianna Dunn has been teaching at the Early Education Center for seven years, and as a preschool teacher, she says the joy comes from witnessing the excitement as kids explore new ideas and concepts.

She has students between the ages of two and five, and when asked why she chose preschool, she laughed and said, “I love preschool because these kids aren’t jaded yet. They are 100% themselves. They do not hold back. They’ll tell you the truth on a Tuesday and a Friday. They just have so much fun, and so much spirit.”

Preschool really is the foundation for making successful learners. In addition to kids’ first academic experiences, preschool is where kids learn things like friendship skills, how to regulate emotions, how to ask for help, how to be respectful to others and just learning to play nice. The kids are at an age of rapid development, and Mrs. Bri gets to watch the magic of early childhood development firsthand. She said, “Seeing their growth is insane. They come in like babies, and they leave little people with so many skills and so many amazing things going for them.

Here at the Early Childhood Center, the days are filled with laughter, learning, and endless opportunities to make a positive impact on young minds.
