McDonald's New Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich Is Here, So I'm Ready To Keep Arguing About Sandwiches
While we were all arguing about chicken sandwiches, many people noticed that McDonald's stayed largely quiet in the whole convo, despite having some pretty killer sammies themselves. Well, it turns out, they were actually scheming the whole time because Thursday, the chain announced two new amazing chicken offerings: Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders and the Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich.
You may have heard about these through the rumor mill, as they were being tested in some kitchens quietly earlier this summer. It turns out that they were such a hit, both the tenders and the sandwich will soon be available nationwide.
Sorry, getting ahead of myself here: let's break down both items for those who have not been lucky enough to try them. The Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders are McDonald's classic tenders tossed in a spicy and sweet BBQ glaze. Have you ever had that moment when you're on a roadtrip but you want to dip your tenders in barbecue sauce (the best sauce, don't @ me) but you have bad balance and suddenly there's sauce everywhere? This seems like the perfect solution to me!
Next up is the Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich, arguably the one that will be compared to the recent (now sold-out) Popeyes Chicken Sandwich. It's a classic McDonald's chicken fillet with slivered onions, pickles, and Spicy BBQ glaze served on the tenders. McDonald's is no stranger to making spicy chicken sandwiches. In fact, when the chain discontinued its Hot 'N Spicy McChicken in 2013, people were UPSET, so this new item should be welcomed with open arms.
Both of these menu items will be available starting September 11, so you'll have to hold your excitement until at least then. All I know is, with this news, we're apparently going to be talking chicken sandwiches until the end of time. And I'm good with that!
