McDonald's shares get a boost, Spirit Airlines soar and New York Times shares up with Trump Bump

McDonald’s (MCD): Shares are higher in early trade, up around 4.2%. The fast food company reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings and menu price increases fueled higher check averages in the U.S.

Spirit Airlines (SAVE): Shares climbing here, up 1.2%. JPMorgan Chase gave the airline a double upgrade to “overweight”. They also noted the battering in Spirit’s stock price this year and a more favorable cost structure despite rising fuel prices.

New York Times (NYT): Shares up around 4.6%. The ‘Trump Bump’ news cycle has increased subscriber growth. And investors see further opportunity as the company continues its transition from print to digital.
