McDonald's Has Bottled Its Mysterious Big Mac Sauce And Put It On Sale

The once-mysterious Big Mac sauce is no longer such a big secret.

Not only were the ingredients finally revealed last year, but you can now buy it in a bottle and take it home.

The sauce, which consists of mayonnaise, relish and mustard, is now available on supermarket shelves.

The dressing originally entered popular culture in 1974 when it was referred to as ‘special sauce’ in an advert – and became known as the franchise’s ‘secret’.

However, McDonald’s has long said that the recipe was out, given you could find the list of ingredients online.

But if you’re looking to go out and buy it, you may struggle.

The sauce is currently only on sale in Australia, where it costs $4.95 (£2.40) a go.

And, with only 4,000 of the bottles made, they’re quite difficult to get hold off, even down under.

It seems likely that McDonald’s will bottle more, but if not, there is a (quite complicated) list of ingredients to go by:

Soybean Oil (Antioxidant (330)), Water, Relish [ Pickles, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Distilled Vinegar, Preservative (202), Thickener (415), Flavourings], Mustard [Water, Distilled Vinegar, Mustard Seed, Salt, Sugar, Colours (150d, 100), Spice], Salted Egg Yolks, Distilled Vinegar, Onion, Thickeners (1442, 415, 405), Spices, Sugar, Salt, Hydrolysed Protein (Corn Gluten, Soy, Wheat Gluten), Preservative (211), Colours (160c, 150d, 100), Emulsifier (433), Garlic, Antioxidant (385).
