McDonald's employees reopen store for 2 little girls after their father was arrested
Police are applauding two McDonald’s employees in Sarasota, Fla., after they went beyond their job description to help care for two young children during a very difficult time.
Sarasota police said they responded to a DUI investigation outside the McDonald’s on North Washington Boulevard and found a man passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle around 1 a.m. Monday. In the backseat were his two daughters, ages 4 and 8.
According to officers, the girls were hungry and had to use the restroom, but the nearby McDonald’s was closed and two employees were inside cleaning up. When the police officers explained the situation to the McDonald’s employees, however, they reopened the fast food restaurant to comfort the girls.
The Sarasota Police Department shared the kind moment on Facebook: “The two employees stopped what they were doing, started up all the machines and gave the two young girls anything they wanted to eat, allowed them to use the restroom & stuffed their Happy Meals with toys. Additionally, the employees would not allow Officers to foot the bill.”
The police added: “Again, to the two McDonald’s employees, who went above and beyond, you are two of the many reasons it’s an honor to continue to serve and protect such an incredible city. THANK YOU!”
The father faces charges of DUI and child neglect. The girls were released to family members.
