McDonald's Cuts 3 McBakery Cafe Items and Leaves Fans Devastated
McDonald's is bidding adieu to a portion of its breakfast-style offerings by totally removing a few items from the menu, and customers are having a hard time with the news.
The fast food chain confirmed that it is ending the McCafé Bakery by phasing out the category’s three sweet treats: the Apple Fritter, Blueberry Muffin and Cinnamon Roll.
Fans of the franchise first caught wind of the possible switch-up on July 8, when a rumor emerged on a popular snack blog's social media account that McDonald’s would be phasing out the trio of bakery items for good later this month.
“I gave you some good news today, how’s about some bad news,” the caption of the Instagram post read, referring to earlier news it shared about the addition of the chain's Cookies & Créme Pie at select locations across the country.
The note continued, stating that the 2020-introduced items were being nixed, before urging, “Get them while you still can, they’ll be discontinued by July 15th 2023(this month)😫.”

What may have started as a rumor, quickly became fact when a McDonald’s USA representative confirmed the changes.
“We’re always listening to our fans and adjusting our menu based on what they crave. Starting this month, we’ll be phasing out our McCafé Bakery line-up, including the Apple Fritter, Blueberry Muffin and Cinnamon Roll,” the brand spokesperson told TODAY.com in a statement. “We know goodbyes are never easy — but fans can still satisfy their sweet tooth with our iconic Chocolate Chip Cookies, Baked Apple Pie and frozen desserts at restaurants nationwide.”
Fans quickly took to Twitter with their gripes.
“They got rid of the apple fritter from McDonald’s 😭😭😭 someone please wake me up from this nightmare!!!!” one disgruntled customer reeled. “I’ve done nothing to deserve this.”
“How @mcdonalds get rid of the apple fritter? Halfway the reason I ever go,” another tweeted, in part, as a third questioned, “What are you doing taking the cinnamon roll off the menu. First the cinnamon melts now this… Who ever is in charge of this should be fired and never have any day in any major decisions. At a loss for words, FIGURE IT OUT!”
But at least the eatery didn't leave its loyal fans totally high and dry. Per Parade's previous reports, the newly-introduced Grimace-inspired meal and special milkshake are available now for a limited time!
