Remember when things were only a dollar? Yeah, it’s hard for us too. With the soaring prices brought on by inflation, it’s hard to remember a time when we weren’t shelling out a lot of cash for, say, coffee, let alone a meal.

Fast-food joints like McDonald’s have provided relief by offering cheap food on the go. McDonald’s Dollar Menu was especially popular for items that sold for just $1 each, helping to save some serious cash on ready-to-eat food.

However, you may have noticed recently that McDonald’s Dollar Menu rarely offers anything for $1, making many customers angry. Many have called out McDonald’s for upping its prices while still trying to hold onto its famous “Dollar Menu” title.

McDonald’s Faces Controversy Over 'Dollar Menu'

It’s no secret that fast-food chains have upped their prices recently, but McDonald’s has been criticized lately for its jump in prices, specifically on its Dollar Menu.

In her recent viral video, TikTok user anna2morrow states, “McDonald’s pricing is getting out of hand,” with a dollar menu that actually doesn’t offer anything at the price of $1. The only menu item that comes close to that price is a soft drink for $1.29.

Many commenters were eager to reply, noting that the Dollar Menu has changed its prices and the items it now offers.

“Their dollar menu is ALL drinks,” one user said. Another commented, “2/3 of that menu is just beverages??? What happened to all the food?” It's a valid question.

As for the food, well, the days of grabbing something for a dollar seem to be a thing of the past, even if McDonald’s states it still offers its $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu. “I just picked up a breakfast sandwich nothing else and it was 6.10 with the tax,” said one user, while someone else commented: “McDonald’s hasn’t been cheap in a few years but is very bad this last year!”

A self-proclaimed McDonald’s worker also posted a comment on the TikTok video, saying that the apple slices are “the only thing we sell that's a buck.”
