McDonald’s debuts new Grandma McFlurry

McDonald’s has introduced the Grandma McFlurry, and yes, it tastes like her favorite treat she hid in her purse.

Whether you refer to her as Grandmother, Abuela, Oma, Lola, Halmoni or Yiayia, the fast food giant is giving customers across the nation the chance to honor the grandma-figures in their lives with their new limited-edition dessert item, which debuted on Tuesday.

“From treating us to an impromptu soft serve to letting us have dessert first, grandmas always know how to make us feel special, and now, it’s her turn,” McDonald’s said in a press release.

To celebrate, McDonald’s rolled out their version of an ice cream truck – the Grandma’s McFlurry Mobile – on May 17 in New York City, where it stopped at senior centers and assisted living homes.

In addition, McDonald’s teamed up with singer-songwriter Remi Wolf and two-time Latin Grammy nominee Jay Wheeler to create new takes on classic songs; Wolf released a cover of “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved Like You)” by Marvin Gaye and Wheeler covered “Piel Canela” by Eydie Gormé and Trio Los Panchos.

The new McFlurry features “delicious syrup and chopped, crunchy candy pieces” blended with vanilla soft serve.

McDonald’s will serve the Grandma McFlurry while supplies last.
