McDonald’s is bringing Boo Buckets back this year with a new color
McDonald’s Happy Meals have a spooky theme this Halloween — Boo Buckets are back!
The Halloween-themed pails will return to the fast-food chain starting Oct. 17 through Oct. 31 or while supplies last, reports USA Today.
“Let’s be honest ... spooky szn isn’t official until Boo Buckets are back at McDonald’s,” the fast-food chain announced.
For the first time since the Boo Buckets’ original release in 1986, the purple vampire bucket will be available, reports People. Also returning will be the white mummy, green monster and orange skeleton pails, which returned to the restaurant in 2022.
“They’ll be gone faster than you can say ‘boo,’ so head to your local McDonald’s to get a festive pail while supplies last,” McDonald’s announced.
Customers will receive a Boo Bucket when they order a Happy Meal in the restaurant or through the app, per USA Today. A Happy Meal comes with either a hamburger, 4-piece or 6-piece chicken McNuggets and a side of fries or apple slices.
Burger King also has Halloween buckets
Burger King will also release a Halloween-themed bucket for a limited time. Inspired by the fan-favorite Ghost Pepper Whopper hamburger, the restaurant will offer customers limited-edition, glow-in-the-dark “Trick-or-Heat” buckets available starting Oct. 13, per Today.
Beginning Oct. 12, the Ghost Pepper Whopper will return to Burger King menus for a limited time, along with a new menu item — Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries.
“Earlier this year, we asked Guests if we should bring back the Ghost Pepper Whopper or introduce Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries,” Pat O’Toole, Burger King North America’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release, per People. “The results were split, so we’re adding both products to our menus nationwide this Halloween season, giving Guests multiple ways to enjoy the perfect combination of flavor and heat.”
First introduced in 2022, the Ghost Pepper Whopper features a flame-grilled beef patty, jalapeños, spicy queso, bacon and ghost pepper cheese between a toasted orange bun topped with black sesame seeds.
“We’re excited for fans to have a new way to enjoy our signature Chicken Fries and bring back the Ghost Pepper Whopper with an eye-catching orange bun achieved with the use of paprika, showing that spooktacular innovations don’t mean you have to sacrifice quality or flavor,” O’Toole said in a statement, per Food and Wine Magazine.
