The McCain Family Gathers for Senator John McCain's Memorial Service

<p>The <a rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a22831861/john-mccain-funeral-details/" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:memorial services;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">memorial services</a> in honor of Senator John McCain began on Wednesday with a private ceremony followed by a procession and an opportunity for the public to pay their respects to the late statesman in the Arizona State capital. Today, the Senator, who passed away at age 81 after a year long battle with brain cancer, <a rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/politics/a22840763/to-lie-in-state-honor-meaning-john-mccain/" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:lies in state;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">lies in state</a> in the Rotunda of the U.S. State Capitol. On Saturday, the senator will be honored by a public processional from the Capitol to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and a memorial at the Washington National Cathedral, at which former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush are expected to speak. </p>
