Mayim Bialik is one of the very, very few creative artists to prove that you don't have to be old to be a legend. She stole onto the scene, and into our hearts, way back in 1988 as the childhood incarnation of Bette Midler's character in the timeless tearjerker Beaches. It wasn't long before she was heading her own sitcom, Blossom, which ran for five funny-poignant seasons.

She went on to notch guest-starring spots in just about every dang TV show in primetime (and some on Saturday afternoons) till settling in for 10 blockbusting seasons on CBS' The Big Bang Theory. Speaking of big bangs, here's a mind-blower: You probably know that her BBT character, Amy Farrah, is a neuroscientist. But did you know that Mayim herself is a neuroscientist? Yep, somewhere along the way to making herself a household name as an actress, she earned a doctorate in neuroscience at UCLA...which may be the wackiest, awesomest art-imitates-life factoid in television history.

Lucky for us, Dr. Bialik is back in our primetime lives, starring in Fox's riotous new sitcom Call Me Cat. Also lucky: She took some time out from her brilliant and hilarious overachieving life to clue us in on some of the things that have been rocking her world and keeping her chill during the pandemic. The doctor will see you now....

Bits and Pieces Wooden Puzzle Plateau

You've probably spent many socially distanced afternoons learning the joys of board games and brain-teasers during the pandemic. Bialik, not surprisingly, has been a longtime fan, which gave her family a brainstorm of their own. "For my birthday last year, my ex-husband and my children got me a puzzle board, which basically you just put on your table, but there's a giant, like, lazy Susan on the bottom so you can swivel it around, and it's really transformed the way I work on puzzles." She continues: "It's a super-nerdy niche thing, but if you're a puzzle person you know how exciting a puzzle table is.

"I'm a person who's obsessed in general with Q-Tips," Bialik confesses. "I use them for personal hygiene, I use them for cleaning. I'm also super environmentally friendly," she adds, which instantaneously made her a fan of LastObjects' reusable cotton swabs.

"First of all, they're adorable, they're very soft, and they come in this cute little case," she reports. Being made of durable cotton, one end smooth the other end textured, they can become a fixture of your bathroom accessories shelf rather than landfill fodder. Or as she puts it: "You use them, and then you can wash them and use them again. There's nothing cuter."

Says Bialik: "It's been a rough year, but many of us have gotten through it with a comfy pair of sweatpants." You said it, sister! "Pact's sweatpants are super soft and awesome,' Bialik says of her go-to brand for comfy personal style. "I've really gotten into their stuff...I also have all their t-shirts, their undies, their tank tops are so good. But it's really the sweatpants that made me fall in love with Pact."

Available in Thyme (pictured) and Maritime Navy and made with 100 percent organic cotton, we're feeling a bit swoony ourselves.

Once again, art imitates life when it comes to Bialik's new sitcom — Call Her Cat Lover. Like many feline fans, however, she's got a significant other in her life who's allergic. Enter Purina's wonder food. "I am obsessed with Pro Plan LiveClear, which reduces the major cat allergen that people are sensitive to," says Bialik. "I happen to be dating someone who can't be around my cats for more than 15 minutes."

LiveClear uses a key egg-based protein to neutralize that pesky allergen. It's also probiotic, available in Chicken and Rice and Salmon and Rice flavors...and there's even a LiveClear kitty shampoo! Says Bialik: "It's completely changed the way that I can spend time with my boyfriend, and other people who are sensitive."

"People in special-needs communities have known for decades that a weighted blanket or a weighted doll can bring a lot of comfort," says Bialik. Well, the folks at Therarobe have brought that holistic health hack to the humble house robe.

"It's so heavy I can barely walk in it!" laughs Bialik, "but I'm obsessed with it, and it's genius!" Available in four sizes (8 lbs, 12lbs, 15lbs, 17lbs).
