Maye Musk made a return to the Met Gala. For tonight's Gilded Glamour event, the author and model wore a burgundy Dior gown, which she paired with a bold multi-strand pearl necklace, strappy sandals, and a top-handle Dior bag.
Maye's last Met Gala appearance was in 2016, when she attended the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology"-themed party. Then, she wore a blue jumpsuit with a long cape designed by Yuna Yang.
As she wrote on Instagram in a throwback post years later, "No cameras were pointing towards me. I just stood there smiling until someone took a photo. One did."
This evening, Maye arrived on the red carpet on the arm of her son billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Elon played it safe with tonight's theme, opting for a simple white tie tuxedo. He's far more likely to make headlines for his outlandish tweets and business dealings than with his fashion choices.
Just a little over a week ago, on April 25, Elon agreed to purchase Twitter for $44 billion. The deal has not been finalized yet, but Twitter announced that it has "entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk."
Per a Twitter release, Musk "has secured $25.5 billion of fully committed debt and margin loan financing and is providing an approximately $21.0 billion equity commitment."
Bret Taylor, Twitter's Independent Board Chair shared in a statement that the board believes the deal "is the best path forward for Twitter's shareholders."
