Maybe Paul Rudd Isn't Aging Because He's Been Drinking This Non-Alcoholic Beer

Paul Rudd says that Super Bowl Sunday is going to be a “little different” for him this year. You might guess it's because he'll star in a Super Bowl ad as Ant Man, promoting the upcoming Quantumania sequel and Heineken’s nonalcoholic 0.0 beer. But the actor’s game day traditions aren’t changing because he’s hosting a commercial watch party. (Though he did joke that he’s excited to “sit back and collect the accolades” when it airs.) It's because he has to get in the zone for his home town team.
“I am from Kansas City and I'm a diehard Chiefs fan,” he says. Rudd says that he’s hoping to be at the game on Sunday, “tapping my feet and not enjoying any of it.” “I don't think I'm going to be able to eat anything ‘cause I just get too nervous,” he laughs.
It will be an adjustment from his typical Super Bowl tradition, which Rudd says usually involves hosting a party with loads of different snacks, booze, and non-alcoholic drinks. “I do like the idea that people can enjoy a beer and not have to worry about the alcohol for several reasons,” he says.
Rudd’s appreciation for alcohol-free drinking rings true in his work too, and his upcoming Super Bowl ad is no exception. The commercial’s teaser, which was released on YouTube last month, sees Rudd as Ant Man enjoying a Heineken 0.0 before heading out to save the day. “When you're saving the universe, you don't want to be too bogged down or have cloudy judgment,” Rudd jokes.
Rudd, himself, has leaned into this mentality in order to stay on the ball for his roles. He has said that he gave up alcohol for a year in preparation for his previous appearance as Ant Man, and confirms to Delish that he has once again refrained from drinking for his role in the sequel.
“I mean, I wanna fit in the suit,” Rudd laughs, sharing that he has a very specific diet and workout regimen when preparing for a production. “That becomes one of the toughest parts about making these [superhero films], but it's also gratifying too when you're kind of in it.”
Just like the actor has learned to lean on decaf coffee to help his work flow, he’s also started reaching for non-alcoholic beers. “Now I can enjoy a nice alcohol-free Heineken and it doesn't matter what I have to do because I'm gonna be fresh-faced and ready to tackle all the villains in the universe,” he says. “I would even venture to say [the Heineken 0.0 is] ‘Delish.’ And I say that specifically for you.”
