May the 4th be with you: Akron municipal Court to host Star Wars-themed weddings

Star Wars-themed weddings are returning to Akron next month.

Lucky couples hoping to tie the knot can do so from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on May 4 at Highland Universal Gatheringspot at 133 Merriman Road.

These weddings, officiated by Akron Municipal Court Judge Ron Cable, will celebrate the space saga with a showing of "Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back."

Off-site weddings are also available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on May 15 at Swensons Drive-In at 40 S. Hawkins Ave. in Akron. These are not Star Wars-themed and will be officiated by Akron Municipal Court Judge Jon Oldham.

Couples can invite 10 or fewer guests. Appointments are first-come, first-serve. To see if space is available, call Akron Municipal Court Chief Service Bailiff Patricia Williams at 330-375-2592.
