All About Max Ehrich, Demi Lovato's Actor Fiancé

From ELLE

Demi Lovato has moved on from model Austin Wilson. About three months after their December 2019 split, the singer began dating former Young and the Restless star Max Ehrich. Their relationship follows an eventful start to Lovato's 2020, with powerhouse performances at the Super Bowl and Grammys. Now, the pair is quarantining together...and just got engaged in July 2020, less than a year into dating.

Lovato recently put her love for Ehrich into words on Instagram. "I feel unconditionally loved and accepted by you in a way that I’ve never felt before.. I can’t explain it or you.. you’re indescribable, you beautiful, man. Inside and out you are jaw-droppingly gorgeous," she wrote in a recent birthday tribute to her man.

In her engagement post, Lovato wrote it was love at first sight: "I knew I loved you the moment I met you," she captioned the Instagram. "It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage."

Now, fans are questioning Ehrich's intentions with Lovato after old tweets and videos from Ehrich gushing about Selena Gomez and other female celebrities resurfaced. Below, everything to know about Lovato's new fiancé and the drama surrounding his social media.

He's an Emmy-nominated former soap actor with a Disney connection.

The 28-year-old actor grew up in Marlboro, New Jersey, before becoming a professional actor. He most famously played the role of Fenmore Baldwin in the hit CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, for which he was nominated for four Daytime Emmys. He's recently starred in the 2019 Netflix movie Walk. Ride. Rodeo. and the Lifetime series American Princess.

Like Lovato, Ehrich also spent some time in the world of Disney. He appeared in High School Musical 3: Senior Year as well as a couple episodes of the Zendaya and Bella Throne series Shake It Up.

Ehrich and Lovato have been dating since March.

The relationship between Ehrich and Lovato is fairly new. E! reported in late March that the couple had been seeing each other "for a few weeks now." But, like many couples across the globe, they've found themselves living together for the time being. "They have been quarantining together at Demi's house and it's going really well," a source told E!.

The source continued, "Max is very into music and health, and he doesn't like to party. He is a good influence on Demi, and they have a lot in common. They have a few mutual friends in common, but Demi has been introducing Max to her closest friends via FaceTime since being quarantined. It's very new but they are definitely hanging out and seeing where it leads. They have spent a lot of time together, but I wouldn't say it's an exclusive relationship yet."

People ran photos of the pair in April that were taken while they shopped for groceries in masks. Their romance comes after Lovato declared herself "single as all hell" in the May 2020 issue of Harper's Bazaar. In the cover story, she also spoke about wanting to settle down with someone in the future, but maintained she has no set type. "People always ask me, ‘What’s your type?’ And I’m like, ‘Have you seen my history?’ There is no type. It is solely off connection. I wish I could say, ‘I only date attractive people.’ But I don’t,” she told the outlet.

He is reportedly planning a post-pandemic proposal...then sped up the timeline.

If a recent Us Weekly report is correct, quarantine has made the two want to permanently commit to each other. "Max plans to propose to Demi after this whole pandemic is resolved and their families wouldn’t be surprised by the proposal," an insider told the outlet in April. "They think they make a great couple."

A source told E! around the same time that not so fast, an engagement isn't happening yet. "The engagement rumors are not true," a source said in a report published on April 16. "It's still early in the relationship and Demi and Max are enjoying just getting to know each other."

In June, Us Weekly maintained the two getting engaged once the quarantine ends could very well still happen. A source said, "They’ve been talking about getting engaged. Her family really likes him. He’ll likely propose within the next couple of months, but when quarantine is over." The insider also said that Ehrich has even picked out a "very sizable" ring for his girlfriend of three months, adding, "Demi has been aware and in on the fact that Max wants to propose and is so excited."

That proposal happened in July.

It comes months after Lovato's longtime ex Wilmer Valderrama proposed to model Amanda Pacheco in January. E! spoke to a source with Lovato's reaction to Valderrama's news. "She's happy for Wilmer if he's happy," the source explained. "She always wants the best for him in life and is glad he has found love. They will always be friends and have a special place in each other's hearts. But she also realized he wasn't going to be her life partner and she's known that for a while. She moved on from that and has been going in a different direction. She wishes him all the best though."

Lovato and Ehrich got engaged in Malibu in July.

Lovato shared photos taken of them following Ehrich's proposal. She wrote in her Instagram caption:

When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his “little partner” - something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner.

@maxehrich -
I knew I loved you the moment I met you.
It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!! 😩😭❤️🥰😍

Ps. THANK YOU @angelokritikos FOR HIDING BEHIND ROCKS AND CAPTURING THE ENTIRE THING!!! I love you boo!!!

Ehrich shared his own gushing tribute with the photos, writing:

Ahhhh 💍😭🥳💓 You are every love song, every film, every lyric, every poem, everything I could ever dream of and then some in a partner in life. Words cannot express how infinitely in love with you I am forever and always and then some. I cannot spend another second of my time here on Earth without the miracle of having you as my wife. here’s to forever baby 💍 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh jeuejfjqjweuvu I’m so excited 😭😭😭 you are the most beautiful inside and out in the entire world & I couldn’t be more grateful God brought us together 🥳❤️ 🙃💍💍💍😭I LOVE YOU SO MUCH @ddlovato AND WILL FOREVER CHERISH YOUR PURE, BEAUTIFUL, INFINITE SOUL

Ehrich got down on one knee with a Peter Marco ring that TMZ is reporting costs between $2.5 and $5 million. In the days following the beachside proposal, both Lovato and Ehrich posted more photos from the day. "Best night of my life... still soaking it all up.. I love you baby @maxehrich 💍" Lovato captioned a few distance shots.

He and Lovato reportedly plan to wed in 2021.

A month after the couple's July 22 engagement, a source told Us Weekly that the pair would likely marry in 2021. However, they're only focused on their relationship at the moment. “There is no explicit timetable for the wedding just yet,” the source told the outlet. “They’re happy to be committed to one another and to start the next chapter of their lives.” The insider added that they are “focused on the engagement, getting married and getting a house together.”

Ehrich deleted Twitter after tweets about him wanting to marry Selena Gomez went viral.

The power of manifestation is alive and well, many thought after Lovato and Ehrich got together. A 2011 tweet from Ehrich resurfaced months ago, where he makes his crush on Lovato known. "All I wanted for Christmas was Demi Lovato. #cantalwaysgetwhatyouwant...." he wrote on December 26 of that year.

It was sweet to think that, nearly nine years later, his Christmas wish came true. However, this isn't the only A-list lady Ehrich has proclaimed his love for on social media. Over the weekend, a series of old tweets and Instagram comments show Ehrich gushing over a long list of female celebs. Those include Gigi Hadid, Ariana Grande, Madison Beer, and even Lovato's former BFF, Selena Gomez.

The posts resurfacing caused Ehrich to delete his Twitter and Lovato to speak out on her man's behalf, calling the screenshots fake:

It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other. If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU. Secondly, don’t y’all have more important shit to write about in 2020??? I challenge any tabloid that dares to type my name to mention Breonna Taylor and the fact that her murderers still haven’t been arrested. WRITE ABOUT THAT.

But then I stop and think.. it’s hella rude but damn.. I get it. And I don’t wanna look at what’s really happening in the world either but WE HAVE TO. Yes, it’s easier to tear apart celebrities and their relationships because 2020 sucks and scares the shit out of us all but it’s only gonna stay terrifying until we address it all and WORK ON SOLUTIONS TOGETHER.

So while on one hand I understand and have compassion for those who are so horrified at the reality of 2020 that they gotta distract themselves with doctored images in order to not focus on how bad these times are—but on the other hand, if you aren’t 13 years old trying to grasp the reality of right now, put on your adult underpants and write about what actually matters. Please."

Some of the posts, which have been screenshot, are below. Previously, The Blast and J-14 wrote about Ehrich's old Selena Gomez posts. A fan also posted a clip of an Instagram Live video where Ehrich confessed he's "had a major crush on [Gomez] since 2010."

Lovato and Ehrich profess their love openly on social media.

Almost four months into their romance, both Lovato and Ehrich don't shy away from posting about each other anymore. In her recent birthday tribute to Ehrich on Instagram, Lovato gushed about their relationship.

"BAAAYYBEEE - I have so much fun with you and there’s so many things I want to say right now but I want to be present and spend this bday with you so I’ll be quick:
Being with you makes life SO MUCH FUN 😆😝 We literally act like hooligans on the daily and don’t give a FUCK if we’re embarrassing ourselves if others are around!! I spend my days with you, bare faced and in a bathing suit.. I feel unconditionally loved and accepted by you in a way that I’ve never felt before.. I can’t explain it or you.. you’re indescribable, you beautiful, man. Inside and out you are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.. You’re also such a positive lil beam of light in my life and I can’t wait to make more birthday memories together.. here’s to the future baby. I love you @maxehrich 💙💙💙💙 p.s. everyone swipe to see my dog Ella literally trying to steal my man... 🤣"

Her post follows a set of sunset photos Ehrich shared earlier that month, declaring Lovato "the love of my life" in his caption. "Magical weekend in Joshua Tree with the love of my life 💘 @ddlovato," he captioned his post.

Shortly after their engagement, Lovato posted a few photos of the couple dressed for a date night. "Falling more and more in love everyday with you honey 💖 photocred: @brianbonifassi," she wrote alongside the photos.

The couple made their relationship Instagram official in May.

Lovato and Ehrich made their romance official on the 'gram in early May. After the couple briefly appeared in the music video for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's song "Stuck With U," both of them posted the clip of them dancing to Instagram. "my whole heart. #stuckwithu 💓. All proceeds go to the First Responders Children’s Foundation 🙏," Ehrich wrote on his post. Lovato captioned hers, "Happy to be a part of something so special right now. Like really REALLY happy if you can’t tell... #stuckwithu"

Lovato and Ehrich also posted a series of sultry pool pictures on May 28:

Fans could spot signs of Lovato and Ehrich's relationship on social media long before they went Instagram official. Ehrich shared videos and photos of himself with Lovato's dogs Cinderella and Batman—one of the first big hints they were dating. On March 30, he posted a photo of himself snuggling with Batman. "My angels 😍," Lovato commented.

If their comments section interactions weren't enough, Lovato accidentally appeared on Ehrich's Instagram Live on March 28. In the clip, Ehrich is playing piano before whispering to Lovato offscreen, "I'm on live." She comes over to his side before he reminds her again that he's on live, and she quickly exits the frame.

He's also a singer.

Another clue that Ehrich and Lovato are together? He's singing songs for her on Instagram. On March 24, he shared a video of himself singing Coldplay's "Yellow" while he played the piano. "4D🌹<3," he captioned the post, presumably dedicating the cover to Demi.

In an interview with Imagista, Ehrich said he'd been playing piano since age 4 and spoke about having his song "Ride" on the soundtrack for Walk. Ride. Rodeo. "Music holds a very special place in my heart for a multitude of reasons, but this song is especially meaningful," he told the outlet. "Not only were the lyrics inspired by Amberley’s [rodeo racer Amberley Snyder] courage to overcome her near-impossible obstacles, but I had the honor of representing her story and helping her to share it. It was truly an incredible feeling to merge so many of my passions into one project."

His Instagram features a ton of motivational quotes—and an occasional shirtless pic.

While you're not combing through Ehrich's Instagram for a Lovato shoutout, you'll find that the man loves an inspirational quote. In December 2019 he shared, "courage is a love affair with the unknown." And in February he implored his million followers to "focus the good."

Ehrich often shares inspo of another kind on IG: fitness inspiration. On March 23, he posted a black-and-white shirtless photo with the caption, "when u realize u should’ve packed more for your quarantine stay 😅🤦♂️ have a blessed Monday filled with health, happiness, safety, joy, love, & laughter <3." Lovato commented, "Fine by me..."

He last dated model Sommer Ray.

While Lovato's dating history has been heavily covered by the media, Ehrich's previous relationships have been pretty low-key. In 2017, he was linked to model Sommer Ray. Entertainment Tonight reported that Bella Thorne set the couple up.

Before that, Ehrich dated Disney Channel star Veronica Dunne and, per Seventeen, moved to Los Angeles in 2008 with Modern Family's Sarah Hyland.

His first birthday tribute to Lovato is seriously romantic.

If Ehrich's first birthday tribute for his new fiancée is any indication, there's a lot of lovey posts in their future. For Lovato's 28th birthday on August 20, he shared several photos from the couple's relationship and wrote the sweetest words to accompany them. "words fall short baby. you light up this world & i am the luckiest man alive to call you my fiancé. i keep falling more in love with you & your pure heart & soul every moment. can’t wait to make endless memories with u & forever cherish you with all my heart. happy 28th, my angel @ddlovato 💘🎂🥳" he wrote.

Lovato commented on the tribute, "I love you SO much angel - thank you for the best memories and here’s to many more!!! 💗💗💗"
