Following the tragic passing of Matthew Perry on Saturday 28 October, a slew of fan and celebrity tributes have made their way across social media and the internet. Every single one of them detailing the 54-year-old actor as a talented, compassionate, and overwhelmingly kind human being.

Most recently, Matthew's former fiancé Molly Hurwitz has broken her silence on the devastating news that many fans and loved ones are no doubt still trying to come to terms with. The literary manager shared her heartache on Instagram and reflected on her "profound" relationship with the late actor.

"He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was. And he really was very talented. As the Friends reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together," the 32-year-old typed.

"'F**k, I was so good!!! See what I did there???'" Molly recalled Matthew saying.

The actor's former partner also shared how they'd rewind and study scenes together, noting that their "respect and appreciation of humour" was something that "connected" them.

"Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical," she added.

Elsewhere in the heartfelt post, Molly did touch upon knowing Matthew personally away from his fame and undeniable talent. She shared that she "obviously knew that man in a very different way," and while she "loved him deeper than [she] could comprehend," Molly described Matthew as "complicated."

"He caused pain like I'd never known," she continued.

However, Molly went on to say that no one in her adult life has had "a more profound impact" on her "than Matthew Langford Perry." To which she penned her "tremendous gratitude" for everything she learned from their relationship.

Molly also expressed that she'd "be remiss" if she didn't mention her experience with "Al Anon" – support groups for those who have been impacted or affected by someone close to them's alcoholism.

"An invaluable resource for those who love someone struggling with this destructive disease," she said.

It's common knowledge that Matthew had been very candid about his struggles with addiction over the years, and most recently opened up about his life within the pages of his tell-all memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.

But, in a now poignant interview with podcast host Tom Power last year, Matthew detailed that he'd want to be remembered for helping people overcome the same struggles he had. Not just his (iconic) role as Chandler Bing on Friends.

He said: "The best thing about me, bar none, is that if somebody comes to me and says, 'I can't stop drinking, can you help me?' I can say 'yes' and follow up and do it.

"When I die, I don't want Friends to be the first thing that's mentioned. I want that to be the first thing that's mentioned. And I'm gonna live the rest of my life proving that."

While Matthew's untimely death has come as a cruel shock to all, Molly concluded her open letter to her former partner with: "Matty, I feel relief that you are at peace."
