Matthew McConaughey helped prepare and serve about 800 turkey dinner to first responders battling the California wildfires. Matthew and other volunteers were serving meals as part of Wild Turkey Bourbon's "With Thanks" annual charitable giving campaign, according to a release. Matthew is Wild Turkey's creative director. Along with Matthew's 800 meals, volunteers prepared an additional 800 meals and delivered them to local homeless shelters.

Matthew and volunteers from Wild Turkey were planning on being in Los Angeles anyway to host an event in honor of the first responders in last year's Woolsey Fires, but changed their plans to this event in response to the current fires.

"Little did we know when planning this annual event that California, my second home, would once again be hit with devastating fires," Matthew said in the statement. "Being able to provide meals to the men and women who put themselves on the line is an honor for me, Jimmy, and Eddie Russell. We are grateful to be here today to say thank you, shine a light on their unwavering conviction, and hopefully inspire others to get involved and help in their own communities."

This isn't the first time Matthew and the team at Wild Turkey have provided turkey dinners in an emergency. They also surprised first responders from Hurricane Harvey in Houston with turkey lunches.

Matthew is just the latest celebrity to step up to provide meals to first responders in the wake of the fires. Last week, LeBron James, who had to evacuate as a result of the fires in LA, donated a taco truck to feed first responders. Guy Fieri also cooked some meals for the firefighters at Sonoma County Fire District battling the Kincade Fires. This was done in coordination with Chef José Andrés' non-profit World Central Kitchen.
