To celebrate a major milestone, platonic soulmates Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey surprised fans by hopping on an IG live in honor of the 20th anniversary of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

As one of the most iconic rom-com movies of all time, their on-screen chemistry remained as they chatted away with over 1.8 million views from fans and counting. The actors, who also co-starred in 2008's Fool's Gold, discussed the film's longevity and its resurgence on TikTok that "basically introduced our movie to an entire new generation of young kids," said Kate.

The "You're So Vain" scene in particular is sweeping across the social media platform. And funnily enough, Matthew revealed the two "gotten under each other's skin a little bit" in real life.

"We were legitimately kind of pissed off at each other in a really cool way. Like okay, that worked. But can we inject a little more of the charm and the love and the desire and the lust in there?"

Kate also got to the real nitty-gritty that fans have been dying to know—what was it like kissing Matthew McConaughey? "We're always in weird environments," Kate joked. "There was only one time when we kissed that was like so nice and gentle, in the bathroom."

After joking about all the weird situations in which they had to kiss on camera, they both agreed, "in respect to our now partners, we do kiss nicely."

How to Lose a Guy fans absolutely flipped when Kate and Matthew started going down memory lane and left comments like:

  • "Best movie ever"

  • "one of my favorites of allllll time!!!"

  • "Please make another movie together, the chemistry you two have is just perfect! 💛✨️"

But, most of all people were begging to see the two in a sequel. "Just make a sequel!" said one person. "Casting directors LISTEN UP! We need these two to return in a movie together. 😍," wrote another.

When asked in an interview with E!, Matthew admitted that he's all for a sequel. "I mean How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is teed up, you know, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one."
