Are Neal Caffrey and Agent Peter Burke returning to the FBI in some capacity? If we're listening to what Matt Bomer has to say about it, there's definitely a possibility.

As the USA Network sees a resurgence of their past TV shows thanks to streamers, fans have been wondering about new seasons for shows like Suits and White Collar. We've gotten answers about Suits, and learned there's an expansion in the works, but what about White Collar?

With the drama being considered a smash hit when it aired for six seasons between 2009 and 2015, it's only fair that folks would want to know what happened to their favorite criminal-agent team almost a decade after the last episode premiered.

Well, while promoting his new series Fellow Travelers, Matt (who played Neal throughout the show's run) gave viewers a small sliver of hope in terms a reboot. According to the actor, it looks like there's a chance that we'll see him don the suit-and-fedora combo once again.

"There has been talk. It’s actually very legitimate talk, it’s in conversation," the Golden Globe winner told TVLine exclusively on November 17. "A lot of things need to fall into place, but there is a plan in effect, at least, so we’ll see what happens."

While this isn't the first time Matt has mentioned the idea of rebooting White Collar (he previously did so back in May 2020), this version would come with a major caveat. While The Normal Heart alum seemingly hinted of that original cast returning, including Tim DeKay (who played Agent Burke) and Tiffani Thiessen (who played Peter's wife Elizabeth Burke), one person would be notably absent.

"Obviously, [Willie Garson was] the first thing that came to my mind," he added about a major difference in the show, as the character portrayed fan-favorite Mozzie before his September 2021 death from pancreatic cancer. "But I felt that what [creator] Jeff Eastin presented to Tim [DeKay] and I honors what he contributed to the show and honors him as a person."

"There’s no way I would ever be involved with it again if it didn’t do so," Matt added. "So, I think it’s a way for him to, in some ways, still be a part of the show."

As for what a reboot of White Collar could be about, fans remember his character faking his death for a life of conning in Europe, with Peter and Elizabeth naming their son after Neal in the series finale. Although TVLine noted that USA Network and 20th Television (the studio that produced the show) didn't comment on whether a new installment of White Collar is in store, Matt's words seemingly brings us closer to cracking the case...
