Jeopardy! fans, Matt Amodio and James Holzhauer are just two fan-favorites coming together for the ultimate trivia match.

On January 11, the hit quiz show announced the latest iteration of the Jeopardy! franchise. As Deadline reported, Ken Jennings will host Jeopardy! Masters featuring "the six highest-ranked, current Jeopardy! contestants, who will face off in a Champions League-style event." What's more, the series extension already announced its set of competitors: Matt, James, 2022 Tournament of Champions winner Amy Schneider, Sam Buttrey, Andrew He and Mattea Roach.

Shortly after the news broke, Matt raced to social media to share his excitement and in the process called out James over his chances on winning the entire competition. "Can't wait to find out what the prize is for the one of us who finishes second to James!" he wrote on Twitter, insinuating his thoughts of James potentially being crowned winner.

As Jeopardy! fans may remember, Matt accomplished an incredible 38-game winning streak and earned $1.5 million in prize money while James snagged 32 consecutive games for a total of $2.5 million. When folks caught on to what Matt said about James, they immediately had thoughts to share about how the competition could unfold.

"Can't wait to find out what the prize is for the one of you who finishes third to you and James!" one person wrote on Twitter. "I think you can still give him a run for his money!" another follower added. "This is going to be epic! The personalities and player skills makes this an incredible bunch of Jeopardy contestants!" a different user commented.

Friendly rivalry aside, it turns out that Matt and James (a co-star on ABC's The Chase) have developed quite the rapport on social media. The two previously called each other out all in good fun. Back in September 2021, the two jokingly went back-and-forth after James posted a meme of the duo and Matt replied with his own unique quip.

So, how did James react to Matt's most recent call out on Twitter? Fans will have to wait and see since he hasn't responded yet. But something tells us he'll keep the witty banter going!
