Starbucks Holiday Mugs Recalled After InjuriesUS Consumer Product Safety Commission

Nestlé USA has just issued a massive recall on over 440,000 Starbucks-branded mugs due to the hidden dangers they pose. According to an announcement shared by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission on March 21, the metallic mugs can overheat or break if they're microwaved or filled with an extremely hot liquid. This has unfortunately resulted in burns and lacerations to people who were using the mugs.

The recalled mugs were included in a variety of Starbucks-branded gift sets from the 2023 Holiday Collection. They were sold online and in-store at Target and Walmart, and through Nexcom, a military retail outlet.

The four gift sets recalled by Nestlé USA are:

  • Starbucks Holiday Gift Set with 2 Mugs

  • Starbucks Classic Hot Cocoa and Mug

  • Starbucks Peppermint and Classic Hot Cocoas and Mug

  • Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee and Mug

The announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission did confirm that several consumers have been injured while using the mugs.

"There have been 12 incidents of the mugs overheating or breaking resulting in 10 injuries, including nine severe burns/blisters on fingers or hands, and one cut on a finger," read the announcement.

Those in possession of any of the recalled mugs are being asked to stop using them immediately. You can return the mugs to the place of purchase to receive a cash or gift card refund. You can also contact Nestlé USA for a full refund by visiting NestleUSA.com.
