Massive North Shore Paddle Out Celebrates Mikala Jones (Video)

People all over the world have continued to mourn the loss of Mikala Jones since his death in mid-July.

As we reported, Jones was surfing in the Mentawai Islands of Indonesia, when he suffered an injury that allegedly severed his femoral artery and led to a fatal loss of blood.

Paddle outs for the beloved father, husband, friend, and surfer took place in Bali and at Huntington Beach in California. Over the weekend, people who loved him gathered at Rocky Point on the North Shore where he was born and raised for a final send off.

@keyel posted the tribute video above today, captioning it:

"Mikala Jones Rocky Point Memorial Paddle Out"

The video begins with the ceremony's MC saying:

"The reason we are here is to celebrate one of the most unique, dynamic, individuals anyone of us has ever known in our lifetime. So glad to see you all here."

His wife, Emma, and daughters Isabella and Violet, were part of the ceremony, along with his parents and siblings, Malia, Daniel, and Keoni.

Of course, members of the surf world showed up to say goodbye, including: Kalani Robb, Benji Weatherley, Eddie Rothman, Ross Williams, Love Hodel, Flynn Novak, and so many more.

As with most Hawaiian funeral gatherings, this one served lots of food, several pule (prayers) were said, guests wore leis, and surfboards, outrigger canoes, and jet skis were part of the paddle out.

We hope the paddle out and outpouring of love helps the healing process for those that knew and loved him. Press play on the video above.
