Massive Dog Successfully Wins Over His Tiny Grandma in an Attempt to Get Food

When it comes to food-motivated dogs, the sneaky strategies can know no limits. Some dogs are more obvious in their attempts to swipe a bite of something yummy, but others move so casually that it could fool almost anyone. I would know! My Husky resorts to talking, pawing, and doing tricks to earn a bite of food, but my family's cockapoo is famous for his sneaky ways. We've been onto him for over a decade, and he's still finding new ways to get food!

I'm not surprised at how many dog owners can relate. Pups of all breeds, sizes, and ages would do anything for a snack, including one family-oriented Boerboel named Life. This big boy might be taller than his grandma when on his back toes, but he knows she's the one to win over if he wants to eat like a king. Sure enough--on March 20, that's exactly what he did.

LOL! There's no doubt in my mind that Life knows exactly what he's doing. His smug look is just too cute, though I'm sure this dog's owner doesn't love that he's getting in the habit of ignoring him. However, the silver lining is that he's learning to respect and listen to his grandma!

It can be nerve-wracking for some massive dogs to be around smaller people, but Life has always been taught to act gently with Gran. In fact, he wasn't even allowed to be near her while she was eating until she herself said so! Just as the video explains, she demanded that he be left alone, and that's how we know Life truly won her over.

Yep--this is one food-motivated dog! He puts in so much effort just for one bite of banana, but it looks like it was worth it in the end. He's even closer to Gran than ever! Even though the big dog's owner is watching from just a few feet away, Life knows just how to find his grandma's weak spot.

What is a Boerboel?

If you've never heard of this dog breed, you're not alone. The Boerboel dog is a large, Mastiff breed that was developed in South Africa for home and family protection.

These dogs are large, brave, and incredibly loyal, though they require a lot of obedience training and socialization from a young age to avoid behavior concerns. They can be dominant, strong-willed dogs, but are also incredibly eager to please and spend time with the people they love the most.

Life is a great example of this African dog breed's love and loyalty (and stubbornness!). Luckily, he's also very food-motivated, so training new behaviors isn't always so tricky. With a piece of banana in her hand, Gran has all the power!
