Stare into the (enormous) eyes of Kitty from The Masked Singer, and all you'll register is bold confidence. The feline femme fatale is dressed in a dramatic showgirl get-up, and she's got the vocal range to back it up. But if we've learned anything from Kitty's clue package, it's that it's been a long road to the Masked Singer stage — and she's had to undergo an impressive "transformation" to get there.

So, who is she? Fans have really done their homework on this one, and we're almost positive they've sniffed her out. Now that competitors including Bear, Swan, T-Rex and White Tiger have pulled off their masks, it's time to start digging into this captivating cat.

Who is Kitty on The Masked Singer?

First, we've gathered up the clues so far:

  • Kitty wants to "wipe the slate clean with the purest snow."

  • There are wizards, a telescope, and opera glasses featured in her clue package.

  • People don't think of Kitty as "the person she's become, but the person she once was."

  • Kitty has a connection to pirates.

  • A rose shatters in her clue package.

  • Kitty says, "Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year. Ring any jingle bells?"

  • In her clue package, she's shown sewing a red cape with a sewing machine.

  • She mentions sewing a "pillow for someone special" or a "modern dress for a family member's ball."

  • Robert Redford helped her get her first role.

  • Kitty tells the audience that she loves to draw, and "maybe there's something about watching transformations that rings a bell."

  • In episode 6, Kitty gives judge Robin Thicke a bracelet that says "fireworks" and tells him, "The first time we met, it was lit."

  • She enjoys writing poems or directing horror films.

  • Kitty told the audience she gets to "let [her] freak flag fly" on the show each performance.

  • Her latest clues include a mouse, a dragon, a shield, and an angelic Christmas ornament.

Based on that information (plus some trusty detective work), fans think Kitty could be:

Jackie Evancho

The former America's Got Talent child prodigy seems to fit all of the major clues, and fans have caught on fast. First of all, Evancho started her singing career young; she debuted on America's Got Talent at the age of 10. The Pittsburgh native (pirates, anyone?) has mentioned singing Ariana Grande in previous interviews, and she's been forced to undergo quite a "transformation" as she's aged from young opera star to adult artist. (Remember those opera glasses?)

With one of her radiant performances, she caught the eye of Robert Redford, who requested she join his 2012 drama The Company You Keep. Evancho played Redford's 11-year-old daughter.

That alone seems enough to solidify Kitty's identity, but there are even more connections. Like that red cape Kitty's sewing in her clue package? Turns out Evancho performed as Little Red Riding Hood in fourth grade, says the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Even her mention of "let your freak flag fly" has a foundation. Evancho loves Broadway shows—her most recent album, The Debut, is a collection of musical theater covers—and "Freak Flag" is a song from Shrek The Musical.

She's also covered multiple Disney songs, which could connect with the dragon, shield, and mouse from her latest clue. And she once guest starred in an episode of Wizards of Waverly Place, a Disney channel original. This could explain Kitty's "wizards" clue.

Finally, she has a perfect tie to Thicke. According to some trusty internet sleuths, the classical queen performed with Thicke at the Grove Christmas Tree lighting and fireworks show in Los Angeles in 2011. That would explain why Kitty's first meeting with Thicke was so "lit" it deserved a "fireworks"-branded friendship bracelet. And it's a connection to the Christmas clue, beyond the fact that, y'know, Evancho's first major label recording was O Holy Night.

Lucy Hale

Fans might have the most convincing argument for Evancho, but that doesn't mean their theories around Freeform actress and singer Lucy Hale are any less enticing. She easily knocks out several of the clues.

First, Hale played Aria Montgomery in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars, in which the mysterious Red Coat is a primary antagonist. Surely that explains Kitty's fabulous red sheath, right? Hale also starred as Miranda Hampson in Wizards of Waverly Place, which would connect the dots to "wizards" in Kitty's clue package.

Second, Hale is starring in the CW's Katy Keene, in which she plays an aspiring fashion designer whose weapon of choice is her sewing machine, much like Kitty herself. And that "ball" Kitty mentions sewing a dress for? It sounds like something Cinderella might attend, and Hale starred in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song in 2011.

Fans even found an answer to the "pirates" clue: Hale performed as vocal talent for the Peter Pan-inspired Secret of the Wings animated film. Neverland, of course, is famous for its pirate-infested waters. And Hale has even been in horror films, including Truth or Dare, which might explain the "directing horror films" clue.

Sarah Hyland

But wait, there's still a case to be made for Modern Family star Sarah Hyland. Judge Jenny McCarthy was quick to guess Modern Family might be a clue when Kitty mentioned making a "modern" dress for a "family" member's ball.

She's also had to get a "fresh start" while transforming from child star to experienced actress. And Hyland is engaged to Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise alum Wells Adam, who could be the inspiration for Kitty's shattering rose.

Still, the case isn't cracked just yet. Hyland has no connection to Thicke or Redford, and she recently took to Instagram Stories to deny any connection to the show, as Refinery29 reported. If she's telling the truth, fans will have to start looking elsewhere. But if it's a ploy? Well, Hyland's certainly committed to the role.
