This mascara sells once every 7.5 seconds and I can vouch for it

For makeup lovers, there are few things better than finding your ride or die beauty products, and for me one of them has always been the controversially-named Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced.

A tube of the lash-boosting formula sells once every 7.5 seconds in the U.S. alone — which is pretty impressive for an offering that only launched in 2013. Better Than Sex (or Better Than Love as it is marketed in more conservative countries) delivers where most mascaras fail. Not only does it guarantee thick, fluttery eyelashes in just two swipes of the hourglass-shaped wand, but there's no spider lash effect, no gradual drop in volume and definitely no fallout that leaves you with panda eyes by the afternoon.

Its flawless payoff makes sense when you consider that Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino and his team tested over 150 iterations — and 47 types of brushes no less— while perfecting their secret sauce (it apparently contains "power peptides" — but that's about all the tight-lipped brand will reveal about it).

Consider this: Better Than Sex mascara also has over 400,000 loves on Sephora and a near-perfect five-star rating from over 10,000 people on Ulta. The only problem is once you try what lies inside this metallic pink tube, you'll likely struggle to find another mascara to live up to it.

Mascara has always been my "desert island product" and therefore I've tried everything from drug store to Dior expecting the earth, moon and stars. Yet time and time again over the last five years, I've flocked back to this faithful one for its out-of-this-world epic finish.

The product's name was inspired by Marilyn Monroe's famous quip to a reporter that performing on Broadway was indeed "better than sex." As the doe-eyed queen of the flirty winks, one can only imagine that she'd vouch for it too.
