Olivier Sarkozy, 50, and Mary-Kate Olsen, 33, have filed for divorce after eight years together. The pair have been together since 2012 and tied the knot in 2015, but are now separating following five years as a married couple.
It was the Full House actress and fashion designer Mary-Kate's first marriage, and French banker Olivier's second, following his marriage to Charlotte Bernard between 1997 and 2011. Early 2012 - Olivier and Mary-Kate meet at a party
The pair reportedly meet at a party, and, according to Entertainment Tonight, are drawn together thanks to their opposing personalities - Mary-Kate is apparently shy and introvert, while Olivier is outgoing.
The source adds, "They're both very driven, intelligent and hard working, so there was definitely mutual respect there." And while a lot of people were caught up in their 17-year age difference, "They both have friends that span a wide range of ages and it didn’t seem to be a big deal to them."

August 2013 - A rare public outing together
Olivier and Mary-Kate attend the 4th Annual Apollo In The Hamptons Benefit together - something with a source at ET says isn't usually her thing. "He had a way of making her feel really comfortable even in scenarios she would normally like to avoid," says the source. "He is very funny and charming and personable."
February 2014 - Olivier proposes to Mary-Kate
Representatives for the pair confirm they're engaged to be married. A source tells Us Weekly at the time, ""Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids' special events. She thinks he's a great dad."
They added that her loved ones have a pretty high opinion of him, too: "Mary-Kate's family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her," an insider tells Us. "They love him."

November 2015 - The pair get married
Page Six say the pair said their 'I dos' in front of friends and family with an intimate ceremony in New York City on Nov. 27, 2015. A source said at the time, "The reception was held at a private residence on 49th Street, between Second and Third avenues; cocktails were served in a rear garden before the 50 guests dined indoors. Attendees were required to turn in their cellphones beforehand."
March 2017 - Mary-Kate gives a rare interview about family life
Speaking to Net-a-Porter's The EDIT magazine, the fashion mogul opened up about how she finds a healthy work/life balance.
"I think [my sister and I] are lucky [working hard] comes quite naturally for us," she commented. "We don’t need so much time to sit and think and ponder. But then I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner."
"I run on the weekend. You find the thing that helps you relax and if you don't have it, you have to look for it."
This was Olsen's first marriage and the second for Sarkozy, who was previously married to Charlotte Bernard. He and Bernard share two children together.

Mary-Kate Olsen has reportedly filed for divorce from husband Olivier Sarkozy this week, according to TMZ. After five years of marriage, it's believed the actress and fashion designer has legally asked for separation procedures to begin. A source tells ET the breakup is "brutal."
