Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Is Starting Soon: Here’s Where Things Left Off

No biggie or anything, but season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is dropping on Friday, February 18.

Season 3 of the hit series dropped all way back in 2019—so it’s been more than a minute since you last caught up on all the adventures of Midge Maisel and everyone in her orbit.

A little fuzzy on where things left off? Totally fair. Here’s a refresher to get you up to speed before we dive into season four.

Midge buys her old apartment and kills it at the Apollo.

Midge’s divorce was finalized during season 3. She was engaged to Benjamin but ended things when singer Shy Baldwin called to say that he wanted Midge to be his opening act on a USO tour. Oh, and when Joel visited Midge on tour, the two got drunk together and got remarried. Then they decided to get divorced—again. In this season, fans also saw her make professional advancements and book her first Apollo Theater gig.

Midge also decides she wants her old Upper West Side apartment back so her children can go to school in Manhattan. Moishe Maisel, her former father-in-law, says he’ll sell it to her, but the whole thing is contingent on Midge’s tour contract (which she used as collateral).

Midge did so-so on her opening night on tour, but things quickly picked up for her. At one point, she discovers that Shy Baldwin is secretly gay. And while she absolutely aces her Apollo performance, she deeply offends Shy in the process as she makes insensitive jokes that nearly out him, much to his dismay and anger. Shy drops Midge from the tour and she and Susie are left behind on an airplane tarmac as the tour takes off without them.

Midge's parents, Rose and Abe Weissman, are staying with relatives.

Abe left Columbia University and Bell Labs, losing his apartment (which was owned by Columbia) in the process. Rose asked her wealthy family to give her more money from her trust fund but ended up stopping communication with them over their sexist attitudes. So, Abe and Rose moved into Moishe and Shirley Maisel’s home in Queens and totally hate it.

Abe is offered a new job.

After visiting his friend Asher, who was blacklisted for being connected to the Communist party, Abe wrote an article about Asher’s experience for The New York Times. The Village Voice saw it and offered Abe a job as their theater critic.

Rose discovers she has a knack for matchmaking.

After learning that she's successfully matched a friend's daughter to a veterinarian, Rose realizes that she has a talent for matchmaking. Eventually, she tries to set up Midge's ex-fiancé, Benjamin. Midge finds out about it and confronts her and naturally, they clash.

Joel Maisel opens his club and gets a new girlfriend, Mei Lin.

Joel finally gets to open his club. In the process, he gets close to Mei Lin and she eventually becomes his girlfriend. Toward the end of season 3, he introduces Midge to Mei Lin.

Sophie Lennon gets a big gig.

Susie’s other client, Sophie Lennon, lands a big role in a Broadway play, but messes up during opening night and ad-libs her lines. The play is trashed by critics and is forced to close. Susie and Sophie part ways.

Susie Myerson tries to fix things after gambling too much.

Susie loses most of Midge’s money through sports gambling and then decides to have Joel control Midge’s finances. To pay Midge back for the money she lost, Susie and her sister burned down their late mother’s home to get insurance money.
