Having steered the Marvel Cinematic Universe through its decade-long, box office-busting Infinity Saga, Kevin Feige will now turn his attention to overseeing the next era of Star Wars movies. A longstanding fan of Star Wars, the Marvel Studios chief is reportedly teaming up with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to produce new adventures set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, after The Rise of Skywalker draws a line under the on-going, nine episode arc which began all the way back in 1977.

"With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together," Alan Horn, the co-chairman and chief creative officer of Walt Disney Studios, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Horn also hinted that Feige and Kennedy will be working together on another iconic Lucasfilm franchise: the Indiana Jones movies, which have been rumored to be getting the reboot treatment for some time now. "We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox."

Feige's stewardship of the MCU has garnered him significant acclaim, not least of which from Men's Health's own Josh St. Clair, who praised his ability to broaden the horizons of fans by introducing nuanced, relatable heroes.

"Feige has presented progressive relationships, web-slinging away from clichéd romantic plotlines and pelvic sorcery and instead focusing on everyday partnerships," he wrote last year. "That’s because the likely challenges we face are not existential but closer to home: Sometimes the hardest mission in our life becomes loving our brother; sometimes the greatest sidekick through strife remains our brainy sister."

If there's one thing that there's no shortage of in the Star Wars universe, it's complex family relationships. And if there's anybody capable of weaving those dynamics into compelling, wildly entertaining stories, it's Feige.
