Marvel Brings Back Edge of Spider-Verse With New Weapon X Storyline

Marvel Edge of Spider-Verse 1

Marvel is bringing back the Edge of Spider-Verse series for a run of new books in February.

The new storlines will feature a spin-off from the infamous Weapon X testing facility, and introduce a character going by the moniker Weapon VIII, written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, with artist Travel Foreman.

The Weapon X facility has given the Marvel universe Wolverine, Sabretooth, Weapon H, Deadpool and Leech.

These first stories will set up a new Spider-Versal saga, according to Marvel. The Spider-Verse has pumped out some of the weirdest Spider-Man offshoots, including Ghost-Spider, Spider-Ma’am, Japanese Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Ham.

Spider-Man is really stretching his web across pop culture, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 setting sales records on release for the PS5, and the highly-acclaimed sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hitting Netflix at the end of the month.

Marvel is leaning into Spider-Man's popularity too, and celebrating the hit PS5 game with a bunch of variant covers based on Insomniac's hit title.

The last Edge of Spider-Verse series dropped in 2022, and featured Spider-Rex, Arana, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Laird. That’s a whole lot of Spider-Man.
