Martina McBride Is Stepping Up to Help Nashville in Light of the Tornadoes and Coronavirus Outbreak

During difficult times, we depend on the kindness of our communities more than ever. And country music great Martina McBride is not about to let her community stand alone.

With tornadoes earlier this month devastating East Nashville and middle Tennessee and the more recent coronavirus outbreak rapidly escalating in Nashville and beyond, it's been a tough month for Music City. That's why in the face of these recent hardships—in partnership with food nonprofit OneGenerationAway—McBride has gotten to work to help ensure those in need get food from community mobile pantries.

In addition to stepping out to volunteer herself and distribute food on the front lines, McBride, her charitable initiative Martina McBride Team Music Is Love, and OneGenerationAway, have come together to launch a GoFundMe page to help raise money for supporting crisis relief food efforts in Nashville.

Yesterday, following a news segment from Fox 17, McBride took to Instagram to share the clip and further stress the importance of this cause. "We have a double crisis in Nashville right now. With the tornado destruction and #covid_19 impacting our city, we need your help now more than ever," she wrote to her followers. "Donations collected from our gofundme page will help us deliver nutritional food to kids who are home from school and not receiving the school lunches that they rely on. We are also helping elderly people who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19. They might not be able to get to a grocery, or if they can, healthy options are scarce at the moment. These mobile food pantries will also help the music and special event workforce receive free grocery supplements if they are laid off. Anything helps!⁣"

As so many of us look for ways to give back to our community we're grateful that McBride is a reminder that sometimes that can be as simple as offering a piece of fresh fruit and a smile to someone.
