Director Martin Scorsese has expressed his desire to reunite with three-time Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis.

Speaking at the National Board of Review Awards Gala, the director said, “We did two films together and it’s one of the greatest experiences of my life. Maybe there is time for one more.”

The two films in question are 1993 period romance Age of Innocence, in which Day-Lewis plays a wealthy New York lawyer who has an affair, and 2002 historical crime epic Gangs of New York, which became one of the actor’s most praised roles.

Day-Lewis plays Bill the Butcher, an influential gang leader with some serious knife skills. He went up against a young Leonardo DiCaprio, who went on to work with Scorsese on numerous other films.

While Day-Lewis has since retired, his lost acting role 2017’s Phantom Thread, Scorsese thinks there’s one more in him.

The pair were even pictured at the event together smiling and hugging, after Day-Lewis presented Scorsese with his Best Director award.

Maybe a role in the director’s next movie is on the cards? The Martin Scorsese Jesus movie starts shooting 2025.
