Mark Consuelos Once Set Up a Trap to "Catch" Kelly Ripa Cheating

From Good Housekeeping

  • Mark Consuelos once tried to “catch” Kelly Ripa doing something wrong when she wasn’t answering his calls one time.

  • Mark admitted he was jealous, but he and Kelly are in a better place these days.

It’s literally impossible not to be a fan of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ relationship. I mean, how could you not when they’ve been happily married for 24 whole years? But of course, with any lasting marriage, there are ups and downs. Mark once had a bout of jealousy while he was out of town because he couldn’t get in touch with Kelly for a whole day, and he took some drastic measures to make sure she was being faithful.

“After we were married, I was doing a show in Boston, and I couldn’t get a hold of her all day,” Mark said in an excerpt from the book What Makes a Marriage Last. “We didn’t have cell phones then. I got a really bad feeling. So I got on a flight to New York and called her from the plane and asked her what she was doing that night.”

In the book, Kelly chimed in to say that she was spending the day cleaning toilets, but Mark wasn’t buying her story. “Apparently, he thought that sounded very fishy. He wanted to catch me,” she said. “So he gets home and tells the doorman to call up to the apartment and tell me there’s a flower delivery. I’m excited because I’m thinking, Oh my gosh, he’s sending me flowers!”

But instead of seeing a flower delivery man at her door, Kelly instead gets her husband barging into their house. “Meanwhile, I have a johnny mop in one hand, and I’m wearing a bathrobe,” Kelly added. “So I open the door, and it’s him. He comes in—he doesn’t even say hello. He’s looking for something. I’m still looking for the flower guy! And he’s sweeping the scene!”

Thankfully, Mark and Kelly are in a much better place these days. He regrets his actions from back then and said that jealousy “feels horrible and you know you’re wrong,” and he’s “less jealous these days.” Good for him!
