In the Mark: Chanel and Charles Finch Fete the BAFTA Nominees at Mark’s Club

Tonight the top prize at the BAFTAs may be an iconic Mitzi Cunliffe–designed mask trophy, but last night at Charles Finch and Chanel’s pre-BAFTA celebration, chic topknots were the crowning glory—as worn by Poppy Delevingne and Westworld’s Tessa Thompson. Many an urban legend is born behind the polished doors of London’s private member’s clubs, and Charles Finch’s 19th pre-BAFTA dinner, held at the Mark’s Club, was no different, where a host of international guests joined his glamorous tradition. The party-hopping swan du jour, Best Actress nominee Margot Robbie, fluttered in late wearing a bouclé and feather couture Chanel minidress (her smile as dazzling as her Chanel plume diamond earrings), after attending some of the other nominee fetes. Much well wishing and heart-fluttering surrounded the shy American actor Timothée Chalamet, who was center of attention at the cozy old-school club housed behind an impressive Georgian facade.
